The essence of Barolo – its power, its structure, its nuance, its cherry fruit, its aromas – is found more in Serralunga than anywhere else. The Barbaresco Tre Stelle is a delight to drink. The character of this vintage is more accessible for sure, and the fruit is very bright and supple. But there's no harm in drinking this warm-vintage release of 7,500 bottles on the early side while all its primary aromas are so intact and enticing. The tannins are soft, and the wine shows medium richness to close.

Jermann Pinot Grigio - 375ml, 2022

Ca La Bionda’s Valpolicella Classico is a clear eyed, unvarnished and un-dried look at Corvina (70%) and its supporting cast, Corvinone (20%) and Rondinella. Despite its thick skins, Corvina does not produce inky-coloured wines. Instead, this is a bright garnet-red at its core moving to pink at the rim. Aromatically, it’s about as far from Amarone as one could get without switching to another set of grapes altogether, be it Pinot Noir, Gamay, or Sangiovese. There are hints of all three of those here, with aromas of red cherry, raspberry, blood orange, tomato leaf, rose petals, wild herbs, and dusty earth. The wine is unoaked, light-bodied, and amazingly refined, with just the slightest nip of fine-grained tannin lending a perfect amount of grip. It’s way more than a rustic, tangy table wine but what the heck, treat it as such if you like. Pair it with pizza or pasta with your homemade marinara sauce and it will be right at home.

This elegant white from the Bianco di Custoza undergoes a cool fermentation in steel tanks to preserve delicate aromas aswell as an extended period on fine lees before bottling to give a lovely smooth texture to the wine. Intense fresh nose of pears and honeysuckle followed by a soft and round palate full of pink lady apples, lemon peel and peaches, fresh acidity and a pronounced mineral note gives good balance and structure to the wine.

Le Fraghe Bardolino appears a purple-tinged ruby red of medium intensity. Its rich, complex bouquet is the result of a perfect blend of fruity essences such as sweet-sour cherry and blueberry, and spicy nuances of cinnamon and black pepper. The distinctive hallmark of this wine is without a doubt the elegance that one experiences on the palate. Lambrusco di Sorbara Brut Classic Method Rosé produced by Cantina della Volta, located in Bomporto, in the province of Modena and founded in 2010 by Christian Bellei. The soft pressing of the grapes is followed by clarification of the must and fermentation. After 6 months, selected yeasts are added and the wine is bottled for the second refermentation in the bottle. The wine ages on the lees for at least 42 months. Soft pink in color and with fine bubbles, the wine reveals aromas of raspberry, wild strawberry, rose and hints of pomegranate and grapefruit on the nose. The sip is fresh and sapid. Excellent combined with cold cuts and cheeses with fried dough.

Masuret Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore San Boldo Brut is an elegant and complex sparkling wine produced by the the Marsura family, whose local nickname is Marsuret. They have a long tradition of producing wine in the Valdobiaddene hills and they own 111 acres of vineyards that are found scattered throughout the most.

Avignonesi Da-Di / Toscana Bianco - 750ml, 2014

This wine is made from the finest Sangiovese grapes from a single vineyard located in the area known as “Il Corno”. French oak, coconut, eucalyptus and scorched earth aromas form the nose. Showing the heat of the vintage, the densely concentrated palate offers prune, roasted coffee bean and tobacco, alongside tightly knit, close-grained tannins. The warmth of evident alcohol dominates the finish.

Il Marroneto Brunello / Madonna delle Grazie

Intense ruby red color and with a great olfactory concentra- tion, thanks to the presence of a ripe red fruit that leads to notes of jam, spices, vanilla and licorice. In the mouth the wine is characterized by a dense and elegant texture, also supported by the important acidity of the Sangiovese, the tannins are absolutely sweet and the finish is long and of great persistence. Pairs well with cold cuts and meat rich in flavour, cheeses with a strong and aromatic taste, in particular, Pecorino Toscano and Parmigiano.

Fattoria Poggio di Sotto 2018 / Brunello di Montalcino

The organic and biodynamic Brunello di Montalcino Corte Pavone offers a silky presentation of dark fruit flavors that are intermingled with light shades of spice, earth and crushed flower. The wine offers lively fruit and shows good overall balance, with mid-weight texture ceding to bright acidity.

A masterful expression of Tuscan craftsmanship, L’Aspetto Toscana IGT 2018 blends 50% Sangiovese and 50% Canaiolo grapes cultivated in clay soils rich with ancient marine shells. The Sangiovese originates from old vines, lending depth and character to this beautifully structured wine. In the glass, it shows an intense ruby hue and releases captivating aromas of anise, blueberry, raspberry, and tobacco. The palate is layered and refined, opening with juicy red fruits followed by notes of spicy raspberry and balsamic undertones that add complexity and intrigue.

The Chianti Classico Riserva is powerful and dense, with all of the natural richness of the year very much on display. Macerated cherry, leather, spice and tobacco fill out the wine's frame nicely. There is lovely depth to this wine, but I also get the impression it will drink well relatively early for a Castell'in Villa wine.

The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is flat-out stunning, wafting up from the glass with a bouquet that blends minty herbs and a dusting of cocoa with sweet spice and blackberries. This sweeps across the palate with textures of pure silk, ushering in waves of polished red fruits and orange as rosy inner florals form toward the close. While tannic and classically dry, the 2019 maintains a lovely inner freshness, leaving a pleasantly bitter tinge and salted licorice notes to taper off slowly. This is a fabulous showing from Sesta di Sopra and an excellent representation of Castelnuovo dell'Abate terroir.

Sometimes compared to the delicate wines of France’s Burgundy region, Tuscany’s Brunello is a wine that’s remarkably good at presenting the nuances and variations that come from vintage variation and vineyard sites. Working with fruit from primarily southwestern-facing sites that showcase the varied soils of the region, Campogiovanni’s Brunello offers up aromas of well-ripened wild berries, blackberry preserves, tobacco leaf, and tanned leather. Long on the palate, this wine seems deceptively light at first taste, but in short order, an expansive, generous palate that displays a rich mouthfeel emerges. Bold and brooding, this shows the vintage beautifully with a complex and dark-fruited palate that lasts.

Wow. The ripe yet fresh aromas are so alluring and compelling, showing plums, cedar, rose petals and hints of leather. Full-bodied yet framed and tensioned with fantastic length and intensity. Polished tannins are powerful but reserved, showing great presence and character. This is a monumental wine in many senses of the word. One for the cellar.

A bright red color, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino was bottled in March of 2024 and will be released in March of 2025. The aromas are layered and complex with notes of red berries, cranberries, rosemary, orange peel, and black licorice that are constantly evolving in the glass as it opens. Medium-bodied and structured, but also elegant with a weightless feel, it has a long and savory finish. It feels as though it's going to gain in intensity with more time in bottle.

Made only from the finest Sangiovese grapes carefully selected from the estate Chianti Classico vineyards, this Reserva represents the perfect blend of the traditional and the modern. It spends some 24 months in oak, with about 20% in small barriques, and one year in the bottle. The front label bears Titian’s famous portrait of a medieval knight in armor. Cherry, plum, leather, iron and sweet spice flavors mingle in this dense, broad red, which stays focused courtesy of its vibrant acidity, with a wide girth of tannins on the fresh, complex finish.

Very clear aromas of blackberries, blueberries, dark chocolate and some orange peel follow through to a medium body with a solid core of fruit and a polished and refined texture. The saline-tinged acidity guides the core of tart red and blue fruits. Graphite notes mix with savory herbs and spice as this finishes with admirable length and a gentle coating of fine tannins.

The first look at Giodo's 2020 Brunello Di Montalcino is a showstopper and one of the highlights of the vintage. It pours a jeweled ruby color and is ripe and giving on the nose, with ripe, pure aromas of preserved raspberries, fresh herbs, sweet mossy earth, and a pristine floral profile. Medium-bodied, it fills and expands through the palate, with ripe tannins, broad shoulders, and a clean, mineral finish with a darker profile. It's going to improve as it leans into its more tertiary notes of black truffle and tea leaf and gets darker on the finish. This may be a wine that competes with 2019 for complexity and depth, and it will be worth cellaring to find out.

This is a historic Tuscan wine, with the first vintage produced in 1968. The Vigorello is a blend of the Tuscan indigenous grape Pugnitello, with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. It offers depth, intensity and a profound level of dark fruit with blackberry, plum, spice, earth and campfire ash. Robust and softly textured, this is a study in understated power and complexity.

Monteraponi Trebbiano / Colli della Toscana Centrale

With a commitment to organic viticulture and minimal intervention in the cellar, Montenidoli has established itself as a benchmark for Vernaccia. A blend of honeysuckle, Bach flower, lemon, pine, and earth highlight this intense, fresh, and balanced white, which leaves a saline note in the languid aftertaste.

Starnali’s Aglianico might very well be the greatest pizza wine ever and it also serves as a marvelous introduction to one of Italy’s most noble grapes. Possessing intense aromas and flavors of pepper, violet, pungent herb, leather, brown spice, cedar, bittersweet chocolate, and brambly berry, those savory nuances are driving the bus here. With time and air, the fruit comes out to play in the form of fresh blackberry, currant, and dark plum. Quite structured, full-bodied, and full-flavored, this oozes with classic Italian character and typicity.

The town of Montemarano in Irpinia possesses very good elevation at 550 meters, and loam-clay soils that are ideal for Aglianico. With this elevation and long growing season, the wine tends to be a bit more linear with elegant red berry and black fruit, not quite as intense in terms of alcohol and tannin as other Taurasi wines. That does not mean the wine lacks complexity or structure, rather notes of cedar and tobacco along with firm tannin are very prevalent.

A super approachable Aglianico that surprises with elegance and aromatics compared to the tannin and structure this grape is normally associated with. This starts with a fruity bouquet of red stone fruits such as cherry and plum and/or small berries from the undergrowth. The palate's richness is well-structured and modulated, imposing, exuberant, balsamic, radiant, and licorice-like.

This four-grower team joined forces in beautiful Tramonti in 2004, pooling together their pre-phylloxera plantings of ancient varieties along with their expertise. The base for their red blend is the Aglianico variety: typically powerful, savory, low-toned, and deeply tannic. However, here on the breathtaking Amalfi Coast, the gentle hands at Tenuta San Francesco's offer just a suggestion of those elements. By blending in native Campania varieties Tintore and Piedirosso they are able to achieve more freshness and lift: notes of bright red fruits and violets to go with the baritone expressions of tobacco and spice.

Aia delle Monache is a small winery focused on Organic and Low-Intervention winemaking using only the grapes only grown in the Caserta area of Campania. A unique blend of Casavecchia and Pallagrello Nero, this meant to be consumed a bit younger and fresher. Racy citrus notes of blood orange and black-skinned fruits mingle with just a touch of earthy spice, the liter is made with less skin contact and aging in steel for a brighter yet still supple red.

Vineyards for the Fiano are planted on opposite north/south sides of the Arianello hillside, indisputably one of the best locations for Fiano. One side is rich in complex volcanic soils and the other in clay and calcareous soils, resulting in a lively wine with white peach, lemon, lime and crushed stone on the nose, enhanced by elegant notes of flowers and aromatic herbs. A suggestion of beeswax like you'd expect from a grape like Falanghina, this Fiano has a wonderful texture and minerality to go with its white flowers and pear and stone fruits.

Who says the best Fiano is found in Avellino? This wine is influenced both by the Mediterranean and a little bit of elevation, in the foothills of Salerno that lead one to the famous Avellino region. This wine has great structure and depth, proving why the Fiano grape is such a heralded one in Campania. Great aromas of white peach, apples, honey and chamomile. This wine finishes with that signature smokiness reminding us of some Northern European Rieslings. This smokiness is subtle and complements the fruit and adds further complexity to the wine.

Tramonti Bianco is a distinctive white wine from the Amalfi Coast in Campania, Italy, known for its unique blend of indigenous grapes Falanghina, Biancolella, and Pepella. Aia Delle Monache Guardiana / Pallagrello Bianco

Very intense and elegant ruby red color; broad and complex fruity fragrance with hints of plum, cherry jam and tobacco, slightly spicy; a full-bodied wine, smooth and rich in tannins, with an finish that offers notes of cocoa, coffee and vanilla. Best served with richly flavored first courses, red meat and game. A meditation wine.

This 100% Negroamaro came from vines averaging 15-30 years old. It was aged for 4-5 months in used American and French oak barrels. It has a deep, ruby red color with purple reflections. On the nose it has intense aromas of ripe blackberries and blackcurrants, framed by gentle notes of spice. It is medium-bodied, with a good balance between freshness and soft, malleable tannins.

Fruit-forward and bold, the full-bodied Luccarelli Primitivo is a sumptuous red with versatile food-matching potential. Aromas of plum, licorice and spice follow through onto the palate, complementing ripe blackberry and dark chocolate notes. This is 100% Nerello Mascalese from the northern slope of Mount Etna, with vineyards at around 700m above sea level. The grapes are manually harvested, partially de-stemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts, seeing about 15 days maceration. It ages for around 12 months in large oak barrels before being moved to stainless steel tank where it is decanted naturally and bottled without any clarification or filtration process. This is a gorgeous Etna Rosso that has all the characteristic bright cherry fruit and intense minerality, structured and upright but open and ready to enjoy now. It has great acidity and a kiss of tannin that make it a great summer bbq wine that can be served slightly cool, but doesn't need to be chilled. An awesome value for a superb wine!

COS is probably best known for their Cerasuolo di Vittoria. Organically grown and hand-harvested from vines averaging twenty-five years of age.. The Cerasuolo is black cherry, blackberry, and plum followed by aromas of raspberry, blueberry, carob, violet, tobacco, and vanilla. The mouth follows the nose, a slightly tannic attack and pleasing crispness, however, balanced by alcohol, good body and intense flavors.
