Agnès Paquet is a rising star in Burgundy, who became a winemaker to preserve her family’s Côte de Beaune vineyards. She uses organic and biodynamic methods to craft wines that express her estate’s unique terroir. This wine is produced from two parcels. "Les Plumes" is from from the commune of Meursault on mostly clay soils. "Le Topo du Clou" is a young vine parcel situated mid-slope in Meloisey, rich in limestone. The combination of these two sites makes for a thrilling wine that offers a nose with aromas of acacia flowers, fruits like apple & citrus, and a streak of saline minerality. The palate is luscious, with a beautiful balance between vivacity and roundness.

We're kind of... sort of... obsessed with Aligote these days and this wine is a scorching example of why we're so enamored with this lesser-known grape. Taut with a kind of energetic character that really shows off the mineral underpinnings and acid structure, this wine blazes forth with a kind of stony/citrusy mix of green apple, citrus zest, and white flowers that totally makes it a thrill to drink. All of the fruit for this wine is coming from vineyards she owns within Meursault and Meloisey and the pedigree shows with marvelous texture and elegance.

Named "Pinot Fin" because the majority of the vines that make up this wine are an older sub-variety of Pinot Noir which often produces clusters with millerandage. This wine is one of the most famous and sought-after Bourgogne Pinot Fin bottlings, blended from parcels across Chambolle-Musigny, Vosne-Romanée, and Nuits-Saint-Georges. Incredibly pure with red fruits, floral notes, and a lengthy, lifted finish.

This Chambolle-Musigny captures the village's famous grace through the Lachaux lens: crunchy red berries, rose petal and a silky, floating palate of extraordinary drinkability. Production is tiny and allocations rarely reach the open market — a rare chance to drink one of Burgundy's cult names at village level. 2022 is a generous, finely balanced vintage.

Situated in the esteemed Côte de Beaune region, Domaine Hubert Bouzereau-Gruère et Filles is a testament to the union of two venerable winemaking families: the Bouzereaus of Meursault and the Gruères of Chassagne-Montrachet. Today, sisters Marie-Laure and Marie-Anne, represent the eighth generation of vintners, managing a 10-hectare estate that spans six communes within the Côte de Beaune. This wine is produced from several different plots of vines in Chassagne: Les Bouchons de Corvée, Le Poirier du Clos, and La Corvée. The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge is aromatic and expressive with dark cherry and wild strawberry fruits, white pepper and dusty mocha; it's refreshingly tart and with silky tannins, incredibly pleasurable now and will age gracefully for 5-10 more years.

This estate traces its roots to 962 when the Cistercian monks of Cluny tended the vines. It was most recently purchased by the Andrieu family in 2008. Jordane Andrieu graduated Oenology from Dijon and worked at Lafon and de Montille before returning to the family estate. Rigorously biodynamic across 8 hectares (4 in Pommard), the estate also keeps beehives to encourage biodiversity. Fine nose with scents of red and black fruit (cherry, blackberry...) enhanced by notes of mild spices. The palate is well-balanced, fleshy and round with delicate structure. This Volnay offers lush, forward black- and blue-fruit aromas, with hints of flowers, earth and leather. The supple yet supportive tannins and a plump mouthfeel (from the dense extract) lead to a lingering finish. The grapes come from d'Angerville's superb holdings here of almost 4ha. This seductive wine should open in three to five years, and will easily stay at the top of its form for 20 years or more.

Elegant and aristocratic, the Clos des Ducs from d'Angerville is a bit restrained initially but opens up with pomegranate and blackberry fruit aromas and flavours on the palate. The wine is not astringent, but one senses the massive structure and impressive length at first taste. Because of the stony limestone and white marl soils in this 2.15ha holding at the top of the premier cru slope, this complex wine will take time to unwind, but it will undoubtedly be worth the wait.

Alain Chavy produces restrained, structured, and long-lived white Burgundies from 17 acres of vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet, with small holdings in the neighboring villages of Chassagne and Meursault. This Bourgogne is from the younger vines on the property but it still shows its Puligny pedigree. On the nose it shows freshly chopped apple and citrus zest with subtle elements of white flowers and peachy notes with prolonged aeration. On the palate, this shows a distinct note of orchard fruits like pear and white peach, citrus, and an oyster shell streak of minerality on the finish. Baby Puligny indeed!

Billaud-Simon is a reference point in Chablis, renowned for their precise, mineral-driven wines that epitomize the region’s purest expression. Established in 1815, the domaine has long been synonymous with razor-sharp tension and crystalline clarity, drawing from an exceptional array of terroirs, including holdings in vaunted Grand Crus like Les Clos, Vaudésir, and Les Preuses. Now under the stewardship of Faiveley, the wines remain resolutely Chablisien—steely, age-worthy, and deeply evocative of their limestone-rich origins. Year in and year out, this is consistently one of Chablis’ finest!

The holdings in Corgoloin showcase 3 different terroirs all on the same slope with different soils and altitudes. The hill-slopes of Comblanchien and Corgoloin are carved into the hard limestones of the Upper bathonien. The slopes are gentle - the upper part has brown soil with just a little limestone, while just underneath, one finds more rocky soils and at the foot of the slope is an extensive area of brown soils over accumulated clay-limestone soils. The Côte de Nuits “Aux Montagnes” from Domaine Camille Thiriet fully expresses the depth of Burgundian Pinot Noir. It reveals an intense nose of ripe black fruits, accompanied by floral and slightly spicy notes. On the palate, this wine offers an elegant structure, fine tannins, and a lovely freshness. A precise wine, both concentrated and balanced, that perfectly reflects its Côte de Nuits terroir.

This cuvée is from a small 0.8-hectare parcel within the larger Le Clos de Magny climat in Corgoloin. Thiriet’s plot is at the top of the slope at 350 metres and with very rocky soil. Surrounded by the forest, part of the vineyard is often in the shade, which Camille believes works in her favour in warmer years. Another idiosyncrasy is the mass of large boulders that run through the soil just under the surface. It all adds up to a unique terroir that gifts tiny berries and tiny, loose bunches, which in turn allows Camille to use 100% whole bunches. Further up the hill above La Montagne. Three terroirs within the plot, one like La Montagne, one straight on the rock, and one with more clay up at the top. The Clos Magny starts clearly as a whole bunch wine but seconds later the real fruit bounds out of the glass, bramble jelly, this is remarkable on the palate, with an effortless sense of structure and a fine tingle of acidity.

Not to be confused with the Aux Montagnes négociant bottling, this comes from a high, estate-owned site (280 metres) on the Corgoloin-Ladoix border. La Montagne lies below Clos Magny and faces due east. The soils are light and dominated by sandy clay. In Camille’s words, the wine combines “the freshness and purity of Savigny with a little more depth and structure of the Côte de Nuits”. Really fine and perfumed yet with good depth, this has a cooler and slightly more structured persona than the Clos Magny. On the nose, this vintage reveals seductive aromas of crushed raspberry, enriched by subtle hints of spice. On the palate, the wine is round and fruity, supported by lovely tannins that add structure and elegance. The finish is long and persistent, offering a harmonious and refined taste experience.

Domaine Coillot was established in the village of Marsannay in the 1960s by Bernard Coillot, father of current owner Christophe Coillot. Christophe’s philosophy is to make terroir-driven wines as naturally as possible, with the least amount of intervention in the vineyard. The estate practices sustainable farming and does not use insecticides, pesticides, or herbicides. An excellent Burgundy from hands-on, sustainable producer Christophe Coillot. Fresh red fruit, cherry, cranberry, white pepper with notes of savory spice from fruit found near the village of Marsannay. A native of the village of Buxy, south of Givry, Maxime Cottonceau comes from a long line of growers, yet is the first to bottle wines under the family name. And what a start for a young winemaker, training under one of France’s greatest winemakers and Rully native, Vincent Dureuil-Janthial! A riveting, fresh Aligoté from a cool terroir with incredible power and energy. Vinified just like his premier cru wines, this Aligoté comes at you with depth and tons of citrus-laden punch.

Domaine Cottonceau Vercheres / Bourgogne Blanc - 750ml, 2022

The Lafon Porusots in 2023 is creamy and dense, offering aromas of apricot and quince with a floral note and a bit of spice. The texture is buttery, but balanced with fresh acidity for the vintage, carrying the wine to an impressively long finish. The last 1er Cru to pick, it has the structure to hold on.

The 2023 Volnay Les Santenots-du-Milieu has another very delineated, quite floral bouquet that is cut from a similar cloth to the Champans, with just a touch of violet emerging with time in the glass. More powerful than the other Volnays, the palate is well balanced, with great depth and white pepper/graphite notes toward the very persistent finish. This is a Volnay Santenots with well-placed ambition, much more elegant than vintages 10 or 20 years ago.

This wine is a blend of parcels on the limestone and clay hillsides near the Rocks of Solutré and Vergisson, and also at Chaintré and Fuissé. With its golden hue and captivating aromas of ripe stone fruits, citrus, and a hint of toasty oak, it immediately delights the senses. On the palate, savor the rich and complex flavors, with a perfect balance of fruitiness, acidity, and a subtle touch of minerality. Domaine Moreau-Naudet is a great source for excellent, nonconformist Chablis. Taking cues from legendary producers like Raveneau and Dauvissat, Moreau-Naudet makes ripe, shapely Chablis that define minerality with deeply concentrated substance. Aromas of ripe lemon, golden apple, and white peach are layered with chalk, flint, and a subtle honeyed nuance. The palate is more textured and structured, balanced by bright acidity and finishing long with a refined, saline minerality.

Ladoix is a finesse wine, long on little red woodland fruit and the first hints of Cote de Nuits cherry. It is deceptively tender and supple, but should have a depth that comes from its location rather than extraction. This wine is marked by beautifully ripe grapes, giving the wine a brilliant ruby ​​color, intense aromas of red fruits, particularly cherry and raspberry, enhanced by floral notes and a discreet hint of toast imparted by careful oak aging. On the palate, the structure is fine, the tannins silky, and the acidity refreshing, offering a typically Burgundian balance.

Clos de Meixvelle is a monopole vineyard owned by Domaine Pierre Gelin since 1961. The vines, planted on alluvial soils with a limestone base, are over 70 years old and lead to a wine with classic Gevrey-Chambertin character of gorgeous dark berry fruits with incredible depth and a powerful, yet elegant structure. This enticing red is open and complex, delivering spicy cherry, roasted beet and earth notes, with a hint of rhubarb, all framed by oak spice. Firm, yet with viscosity and intensity. Shows fine balance and length.

With roots going back to 1765, it’s safe to say that the Rapet family has significant experience working their estate which is based in Pernand-Vergelesses. “En Bully” comes from high-altitude marl soils at 350m, just outside the village. The vines lie near the Hautes-Côtes, offering freshness and lift. The 2022 is again just delicious, showing a vibrant red color and very floral aromas of ripe, crushed berries, rose petals and earth. The palate is lush and beautifully balanced with velvety cherry and raspberry fruit with mineral, earth and citrus notes that linger in the refreshing, sapid finish.

The Tollot family represents a long lineage of winegrowers dating back to the late 1880s when François Tollot began planting vineyards in Chorey-lès-Beaune. Today, cousins Nathalie, Jean-Paul, and Olivier Tollot are in charge. This is pretty, offering cherry, blackberry and black currant flavors. The estate was founded in 1986 with 5 hectares of Pinot Noir in Santenay, where Denis’ family had long been vignerons. Over time Denis and Françoise added parcels of Chardonnay in Saint-Aubin, where Françoise was from, and where the winery is today. Since 2000, their son Jean-Baptiste has worked on the estate, gradually taking on more responsibility, and gaining plaudits for the increased refinement and precision of the wines. The nose of this wine is characterised by lovely fruitiness, with aromas of pear and white peach. The wine is quite opulent on the palate, with notes of hazelnuts and almonds characterising the finish. This is their most indulgent 1er cru and the easiest to drink young.

DNS Wines Famille Paquet Bourgogne Chardonnay 2024 750ml

Situated on the other side of the highway, beside the village of Chambolle. Francois believes you still get the typicity of Chambolle. Key part of why is that it is at the end of the ‘fan’ of the Combe that divides Chambolle, benefiting from the breeze + lots of alluvial rocks deposited in the vineyard from the alluvial wash. This gives the vineyard a rockier soil than many Bourgogne sites and excellent drainage. Vineyard planted in 1973, 49 years old. A slightly riper yet still wonderfully fresh nose blends notes of red and dark currant, orange peel and a whiff of earth. There is excellent verve and precision to the delicious middleweight flavors that offers just a bit more size and weight before concluding in a balanced, bright and inviting finale. This is a quality Bourgogne that is slightly more structured.

Based in Couchey, this tiny lieu-dit was once a muddy, marshy place. ‘Potet’ can be used for something humid and silty. These are Marsannay’s typically sandy marl soils. Paler ruby in color. Rose petal and violet aromas – a pretty, crystalline nose. The palate is delicate on the entry, finding a supple pliancy on the mid-palate. Crisp acidity lends definition. This works very well.

Les Grands Poisots is at the northern (Pommard) end of Volnay, below Les Brouillards. Poisot, from the ancient French Puisets /Puits, refers to water sources and streams. Wonderfully aromatic – roses and fine dark spices. The palate is fine, pliant and supple and with an insistent flavour saturation. A friendly, melded wine.

This delightful wine boasts pronounced aromas of ripe mulberry and plum accented with a hint of earth and pencil lead – the tone is much deeper and richer than the same wine last year and the texture is more substantial. This wine should open in three to five years and should age well. The grapes are from a third of a hectare located against the wall of Grands Epenots just west of the Route des Grands Crus. The grapes are destemmed and gently fermented; four of the seven casks this year are new although there is plenty of substance to absorb the wood.

The 2021 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Allots comes from a long one-hectare strip bought in 1969, the vines replaced piecemeal over the years. It has a slightly minty bouquet with dark berry fruit and a touch of cassis. Great intensity on the palate with plums, black cherry, and hints of oak spice. Slightly mineral and stony on the finish.

The Pouilly-Fuissé "En Chatenay" is the jewel in the crown of the Héritiers du Comte Lafon estate. From a high-altitude plot in the village of Fuissé, this wine benefits from biodynamic viticulture that showcases the minerality of its limestone soils. Based on three beautifully situated parcels on the southern slopes of the village: les Cloux (60-year-old vines); les Chaumes de Narvaux, just above Bouchères and Gouttes d'Or; Limouzin, directly below Genevrières, plus a little Criots. Here the fruit is much more demonstrative on the nose, a class above the Chassagne. Excellent tension through the middle of the palate, good weight at the back, a lovely Meursault which will blossom with age.

The vines in this lieu-dit were planted in 1953. This tiny, steep, west facing site in the middle of the village is classically Meursault in character, with citrus and mineral notes, beautifully pure fruit in the mid-palate and fine length. An appealingly fresh nose proffers its nose of pear and apple compote, acacia bloom and soft wood influence. Her commitment to a minimal intervention method reflects her deep respect for the winemaking tradition. The wine embodies great balance, with a subtle earthy nose an attractive dark cherry and delicate violet notes. Medium bodied, showing a remarkable elegance and great drinkability in its youth.

The Clos des Fourches comes exclusively from the plot of Clos de la Maréchale, located at the very southern tip of Nuits-Saint-Georges. Frédéric Mugnier has chosen to isolate the young vines (less than 20-25 years old) under this historic name to ensure the excellence of his Premier Cru. The Clos de la Maréchale has the ripest fruit of any in the Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier range. Monts De Bourgogne Chardonnay

Pinot Noir grapes for this wine are sourced partially from the southernmost part of Burgundy, in the Mâconnais and partially from Côte d’Or (Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits). The vineyards are located along the foot of the wine-growing slopes on limestone soils mixed with some clays and marls. A bouquet of small red fruits (cherry, redcurrant) and black fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant) greets you upon opening the bottle. The wine is lively and crunchy in the mouth with flavors that continue into a long, smooth finish. A vinous and appealing wine.
