  • Alex Foillard Brouilly - 750ml, 2022

Alex Foillard epitomizes the new generation of talent coming of age in the Beaujolais. Growing up in the Foillard household, he had privileged access to the brightest minds of natural wine, but that did not prevent him from exhibiting some ambition of his own. In order to really spread his wings, he purchased his own vineyards, including a one-hectare plot of fifty-year-old vines in Brouilly, a cru novel to the Foillard cellars. You might detect a slight southern accent in this release—a generous dash of plump, sun-ripened fruit enveloping its granite core—along with the deluxe silkiness that characterizes all Foillard bottlings.

  • Daniel Bouland Pre Jourdan / Morgon - 750ml, 2022

Daniel Bouland’s 2022 Pré Jourdan is a beautiful bottle of young Morgon. The deeper soils here show in the great depth of sappy fruit the wine exudes on both the nose and palate, with the wine coming at 13.5 percent octane in this vintage and offering up a simply beautiful aromatic constellation of black cherries, red plums, sweet cranberries, a touch of chocolate, pigeon, dark soil tones, woodsmoke, gently savory elements and a topnote of rose petals. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and shows off stunning depth at the core, with a beautiful base of complex soil tones, ripe, buried tannins, fine focus and length and a perfectly balanced, nascently complex finish.

  • Anne Sophie Dubois Fleurie / Les Labourons - 750ml, 2023

The estate's vines are all located on steep slopes (exceeding 30% in some plots) at Les Labourons, Anne-Sophie’s best parcel within Fleurie. The fruit for this wine came from a specially selected organic-certified vineyard, chosen for its small grains among the 18 plots of the estate, that sits at an altitude of 380 meters and has a WSW exposure. Working by gravity from harvest to pressing to respect the bunches. The wine retains a fresh and boisterous fruit profile yet is uncommonly structured and focused. Intense yet supremely elegant with a velvety texture and fine-point tannins. Abundant juicy blackberry and strawberry flavors with streaks of lavender and the unique granitic mineral profile of Fleurie. So good!

  • Anne Sophie Dubois Alchimiste / Fleurie - 750ml, 2023

Anne-Sophie Dubois, a talented vigneron from Champagne, has established herself as a notable figure in the Beaujolais wine region with her Fleurie 'l'Alchimiste' 2023. Her vineyard, located in the heart of Fleurie, benefits from southwest-facing slopes and granitic soils, which contribute to the wine's distinct elegance and finesse. Anne-Sophie's philosophy of minimal intervention allows the true character of the Gamay grapes to shine through, resulting in a wine that is both refined and expressive.

This Brouilly comes from vines that are on average 60 years old and on slightly stony sandy soils facing south-east, the management of the Domaine des Grands Rocs is sustainable. A late harvest, of course by hand, creates a juicy Beaujolais type with intense fruit and lots of charm.

  • Domaine de Fa Beaujolais / En Besset - 750ml, 2023

The Graillot family have harbored an oenological interest in Beaujolais, as well as a family home there, for some time. They, like several others, see a region which has real potential and that is currently undervalued. ‘En Besset’ is a 5ha plot on granitic hillsides close to Saint-Amour and Julienas, producing concentrated intense wines. Their Beaujolais-en-Besset is redolent of ripe mulberries and damsons with a pure red fruit core and delicate earthy undertones. It has enough weight to support a spot of bottle age but is hard to resist in its youthful pomp.

  • Coudert Fleurie / Clos de la Roilette - 750ml, 2023

The wine shows elegant, intense aromas of black cherry and raspberry, violets, stone, smoke, and black pepper. The palate is creamy, earthy, and floral on the attack then develops vivid flavors of black raspberry and crushed strawberry layered over earthy spice and stone on the grippy mid-palate. The finish is long and mineral and ends on a slightly bitter citrus note under lingering black fruits.

  • Chermette Moulin-a-Vent / Les Trois Roches - 750ml, 2023

Moulin à Vent is called King of Beaujolais. This is the Cru with the longest cellaring potential and which is closest to its Burgundian neighours. This cuvée is the expression of the alliance between finesse and power. The aromatic palate is wide, going from very ripe small red berries through spice to mineral notes. The three different plots of vines we use for this cuvée give a wine that is full and balanced: Rochegrès give finesse, Roche Noire liveliness and fruit while La Rochelle contributes power.

  • Pauline Guyomard Moulin a Vent / Les Thorins - 750ml, 2023

In the small appellation of Moulin-à-Vent, the vineyards surround a historic windmill at the top of of 278-meter hill. Moulin-à-Vent wines develop aromas of iris, wilted roses, spice and ripe fruit with notes of undergrowth and truffles, providing tannic, structured wines. When they are younger, they are floral and fruity, with violet and cherry aromas. This delightful red wine is from Les Thorins, a lieu-dit known for its eastern sun exposure and rich, gorrha soil. We love serving it slightly chilled.

  • Domaine Diochon / Moulin-a-Vent - 750ml, 2023

The Moulin-a-Vent Vieilles Vignes has turned out brilliantly, bursting with aromas of cherries, cassis, sweet spices, rose petals and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, rich, and concentrated, it's gourmand but remarkably elegant, with powdery tannin, lively acids, and a seamless, charming profile. As readers will remember, this ultra-traditional cuvee is mostly whole cluster and sees a classic two-week maceration with submerged cap before maturation in foudre.

  • Arnaud Combier / Beaujolais Villages Premières Gouttes - 750ml, 2023

Arnaud Combier is a long-time fixture in the natural wine scene in southern Burgundy, beginning with his first richly-textured, no-sulfites Saint-Véran bottlings more than twenty years ago. Today, he collaborates with like-minded growers on an exciting new lineup of wines from the Mâconnais and Beaujolais. Fresh, expressive aromas of ripe, red fruit with hints of pepper and juniper berry on the nose. Round and expansive on the palate, ending with a lingering finish of licorice and blackberries. A concentrated and well-structured wine that is also very approachable.
    $21.00
  • Daniel Bouland Morgon / Bellevue Sable - 750ml, 2023

Bouland’s Bellevue soils are split into two cuvées—one for the sand (Sable) and one for the stones (Cailloux). These two parcels are only separated by a small track, yet, as Bouland points out, the soil is completely different. Tasted side-by-side, the Sable cuvée is the more yielding of the two wines, with a greater width and juicier tannins than the Cailloux bottling. The Bellevue “Sablé” from Mélanie and Daniel Bouland is an excellent young Morgon. The wine comes in at fourteen percent octane in this vintage and delivers a deep and complex constellation of red and black cherries, sweet cranberries, gamebird, woodsmoke, sweet stem tones, a fine base of soil, peonies and a nice touch of gentle spice tones in the upper register. On the palate the wine is bright, deep, ripe and full-bodied, with a superb core of fruit, fine soil signature and grip, moderate, buried tannins and excellent focus and balance on the long, youthfully complex finish.

Blended with Merlot and Petit Verdot, the wines of Chateau Cissac combine the strength of the Medoc and the aromatic elegance of the greatest Bordeaux. Today the vineyards are managed by Marie Vialard, a direct descendant of Jacques Mondon who bought the estate in 1895. • Chateau du Basque / Saint Emilion Grand Cru - 750ml, 2020

This estate, at the eastern end of the Saint-Emilion vineyard area, is ripe, with dusty tannins alongside bold blackberry fruits. Its structure and richness are fine harbingers for future development. Château du Basque was cited as a Cru Bourgeois in 1949 before receiving their coveted Grand Cru status. Saint Émilion is a very special sub-region found in France's Bordeaux region, situated on the highly esteemed Right Bank of the Gironde River. In Saint Émilion, the mineral rich gravel and clay-based soils provide plenty of nutrition and character to the grape varieties grown, and the continental climate helps them ripen each year to their fullest. The majority of the chateaux in Saint Émilion produce blended red wines, using a carefully balanced blend of mostly Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

  • Chateau Ducasse Bordeaux Blanc - 750ml, 2024

I think the secret to Château Ducasse’s perennially popular, tantalizing white is the healthy amount of Sémillon. It makes up about 70 percent of the final blend and is wonderfully complemented by the Sauvignon Blanc, its traditional dance partner in Bordeaux blanc. As the Bordelais figured out long ago, Sémillon provides weight and texture that you don’t get with Sauvignon Blanc alone, along with gentler floral and stone fruit aromatics. Together, the two varieties produce a refreshing, food-friendly white that walks the line between racy and voluptuous.

Located in the Listrac appellation, the 10-hectare vineyard of Château Ducluzeau is notable for being planted with 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon—one of the highest concentrations of Merlot on the Left Bank. This unique composition gives the wine a supple, fruit-forward character rarely seen in the region. The vineyard sits on classic Listrac terroir, with gravel, clay, and sandy soils, and is densely planted at 10,000 vines per hectare. With a strong family legacy and careful vineyard management, Château Ducluzeau continues to produce accessible, Merlot-driven wines that stand out in the Médoc.

  • Francois Millet Les Rues / Bourgogne Rouge - 750ml, 2021

Situated on the other side of the highway, beside the village of Chambolle. Francois believes you still get the typicity of Chambolle. Key part of why is that it is at the end of the ‘fan’ of the Combe that divides Chambolle, benefiting from the breeze + lots of alluvial rocks deposited in the vineyard from the alluvial wash. This gives the vineyard a rockier soil than many Bourgogne sites and excellent drainage. Vineyard planted in 1973, 49 years old. A slightly riper yet still wonderfully fresh nose blends notes of red and dark currant, orange peel and a whiff of earth. There is excellent verve and precision to the delicious middleweight flavors that offers just a bit more size and weight before concluding in a balanced, bright and inviting finale. This is a quality Bourgogne that is slightly more structured.

The estate was founded in 1986 with 5 hectares of Pinot Noir in Santenay, where Denis’ family had long been vignerons. Over time Denis and Françoise added parcels of Chardonnay in Saint-Aubin, where Françoise was from, and where the winery is today. Since 2000, their son Jean-Baptiste has worked on the estate, gradually taking on more responsibility, and gaining plaudits for the increased refinement and precision of the wines. The nose of this wine is characterised by lovely fruitiness, with aromas of pear and white peach. The wine is quite opulent on the palate, with notes of hazelnuts and almonds characterising the finish. This is their most indulgent 1er cru and the easiest to drink young.

  • Domaine Camille Thiriet Aux Montagnes / Cote de Nuits-Villages - 750ml, 2024

The holdings in Corgoloin showcase 3 different terroirs all on the same slope with different soils and altitudes. The hill-slopes of Comblanchien and Corgoloin are carved into the hard limestones of the Upper bathonien. The slopes are gentle - the upper part has brown soil with just a little limestone, while just underneath, one finds more rocky soils and at the foot of the slope is an extensive area of brown soils over accumulated clay-limestone soils. The Côte de Nuits “Aux Montagnes” from Domaine Camille Thiriet fully expresses the depth of Burgundian Pinot Noir. It reveals an intense nose of ripe black fruits, accompanied by floral and slightly spicy notes. On the palate, this wine offers an elegant structure, fine tannins, and a lovely freshness. A precise wine, both concentrated and balanced, that perfectly reflects its Côte de Nuits terroir.

  • Domaine Camille Thiriet La Montagne / Cote de Nuits-Villages - 750ml, 2024

Not to be confused with the Aux Montagnes négociant bottling, this comes from a high, estate-owned site (280 metres) on the Corgoloin-Ladoix border. La Montagne lies below Clos Magny and faces due east. The soils are light and dominated by sandy clay. In Camille’s words, the wine combines “the freshness and purity of Savigny with a little more depth and structure of the Côte de Nuits”. Really fine and perfumed yet with good depth, this has a cooler and slightly more structured persona than the Clos Magny. On the nose, this vintage reveals seductive aromas of crushed raspberry, enriched by subtle hints of spice. On the palate, the wine is round and fruity, supported by lovely tannins that add structure and elegance. The finish is long and persistent, offering a harmonious and refined taste experience.

  • Domaine Camille Thiriet Clos Magny / Cote de Nuits-Villages - 750ml, 2024

This cuvée is from a small 0.8-hectare parcel within the larger Le Clos de Magny climat in Corgoloin. Thiriet’s plot is at the top of the slope at 350 metres and with very rocky soil. Surrounded by the forest, part of the vineyard is often in the shade, which Camille believes works in her favour in warmer years. Another idiosyncrasy is the mass of large boulders that run through the soil just under the surface. It all adds up to a unique terroir that gifts tiny berries and tiny, loose bunches, which in turn allows Camille to use 100% whole bunches. Further up the hill above La Montagne. Three terroirs within the plot, one like La Montagne, one straight on the rock, and one with more clay up at the top. The Clos Magny starts clearly as a whole bunch wine but seconds later the real fruit bounds out of the glass, bramble jelly, this is remarkable on the palate, with an effortless sense of structure and a fine tingle of acidity.

  • Xavier Monnot Bourgogne Chardonnay / Les Grandes Coutures - 750ml, 2022

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied yet focused, with bright acidity that keeps the experience lively. You’ll taste flavors of pear, citrus-pith, and ripe yellow apples, all framed by a subtle oyster shell kind of minerality and gentle oak accents. Baby Puligny indeed!

This enticing red is open and complex, delivering spicy cherry, roasted beet and earth notes, with a hint of rhubarb, all framed by oak spice. Firm, yet with viscosity and intensity. On the nose it shows freshly chopped apple and citrus zest with subtle elements of white flowers and peachy notes with prolonged aeration. On the palate, this shows a distinct note of orchard fruits like pear and white peach, citrus, and an oyster shell streak of minerality on the finish. Baby Puligny indeed!

  • Bernard Defaix Chablis - 750ml, 2022

Defaix’s village Chablis is drawn from four parcels of mature, 30-plus-year-old vines situated around Milly and Poinchy on the left bank of the Serein River. The wine ferments spontaneously and ages on fine lees for 10 months in glass-lined tanks. Compared to the wine above, the older vines translate to more character, depth and classical restraint—not to mention supersized minerality and ozone salinity. It’s a ripe, poised and vibrantly fresh Chablis with juicy nectarine, mixed citrus fruit and stony, pithy freshness running the length of the palate. A terrific, super seductive Chablis and another outstanding-value wine from Domaine Bernard Defaix.

  • Patrick Piuze Grand Vallee / Chablis 2024 - 750ml, 2024

Piuze’s Chablis La Grande Vallée offers aromas of pear, oyster shell, lemon oil and spring flowers. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, taut and incisive, with a pure and crisp core of fruit and an energetic profile, marked by plenty of classically Chablisien marine notes on its long finish. The vineyard is located on the left bank of the Serein river, below the Montmains premier cru, right below Les Forêts on a 1.8 hectare parcel (4.4 acres) within the original historic AOC Chablis boundaries. Patrick only sources wine from the original 12th century Chablis boundaries, which means that all his cuvees hail from the celebrated Kimmeridgian limestone—a unique terroir rich in fossils, prized for creating stony, complex Chardonnays.

This interesting varietal yields body, liveliness, purity of flavor and crisp dryness in impressive and inexpensive fashion. The Domaine St. Peyre's rendition offers big but focused and refreshing flavor elements of melon, lemon and grapefruit. It's a terrific aperitif, but is truly celebrated with all shellfish and seafood, as well as full flavored white-meat dishes, cheeses and cured meats. It is greenish- pale yellow, with enticing aromas of lime, smoke, honeysuckle and white flowers, bright and smooth, medium-bodied, with a grapy, rather dense mouth feel, a nicely integrated acidity and a very clean, lengthy finish. Comparison can be drawn to Sancerre-style Sauvignon Blanc, but there are exotic nuances all Picpoul's own. This zingy, delicious, but virtually unknown wine deserves a look-see from all intrepid wine aficionados.

  • La Liquiere L'Unique / Gaz de Schiste Sparkling Rose - 750ml

With winemaking roots going back at least to the 1700s, it’s only since the 1960s that, convinced their terroir was rich and offered a promising future, the family began to focus on producing high-quality wine. Today, Bernard Vidal and his wife Claudie, are carrying on their family’s winemaking legacy. Made from Grenache and Mourvèdre, this wine shows aromas of fresh sour fruits, raspberry, and redcurrant. Flavors of red fruit and a little juicy watermelon. Fleshy in the mouth while remaining tonic. The bubbles stay slim and elegant. A beautiful aperitif!

  • Le Clef du Recit Quincy / Sauvignon Blanc - 750ml, 2024

Quincy (kan-SEE), the appellation, has no relation to the city next to Braintree. In fact, it is situated in the eastern Loire valley not far from the better known Sauvignon Blanc centers of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume. Here, the climate is continental but still cool enough to supply a long growing season for those Sauvignon Blanc grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. This iteration by Anthony Girard displays a palate filling texture that wraps the herbal expressions of the varietal in a blanket of viscous fruits that range from grapefruit to guava. Whispers of meadow grass and pearl onion join in astride the wine's focusing acid backbone. In other words, there is a lovely tension between the ripeness and structure in this complex wine that grabs your attention and holds it!

  • Alphonse Mellot Pinot Noir / Cote du Charite - 750ml, 2021

Côtes de la Charité is a Loire appellation, but only just barely. It is closer to Burgundy than it is to the Atlantic Coast, and it has a lot in common with that region, both geologically and climatically. In addition, the predominant grapes are the Burgundian varietals, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Les Pénitents has a bold nose of ripe dark cherry and rose petal, with notes of pepper, fresh-roasted coffee, and sweet spice. The palate is broad and rich, with a surprising amount of well-integrated, fine-grained tannins. Ripe fruit dominates on entry, shifting to a more savory mid-palate, finishing with notes of earth and green walnut. – ABV: 14.8%.

  • Domaine de la Noblaie Chinon / Les Temps des Cerises - 750ml, 2022

From one of the oldest family estates in Chinon, Noblaie is now in the hands of the family’s experienced & well-studied son Jérôme, he brings a modern freshness that shines through the wines. The herbal characteristics come across as sage, oregano and lavender with red and black fruits. Raspberry ganache, blackberries and blackcurrants are forward, but the wine walks a fine line of ripe fruit and hints of vegetal characteristics. Jérôme Billard is a young grower who has taken over the reins of the family business in recent years. His grandparents bought the property for their retirement having migrated from the Corrèze department, and Jérôme’s father was professor of oenology at the agricultural college in Montreuil-Bellay. Jérôme trained with Moueix in Bordeaux and California, and later in New Zealand, and returned to the domaine with a fresh outlook but a great respect for the integrity of Chinon’s grapes, working organically since 2008. The family now farms 21 hectares, 16 of which

Chinon blanc is rare, but young Jérôme Billard is something of a specialist. In a fine vintage for the chenin grape, this dry wine from the Loire offers poise and precision, with delicate aromas of white fruits and flowers, and a pure, long finish. Domaine de la Noblaie produces white, rosé and red Chinon wines, as well as a sparkling Touraine wine. Indeed, La Noblaie is renowned for its Chenin plots which offer fine and elegant white Chinon wines such as the Chante le Vent cuvée. The other star of the wine estate remains Cabernet Franc, the emblematic grape variety of the Loire Valley, which expresses itself on notes of violet, acidic red fruits and spices. Domaine de la Noblaie Chinon Le Temps des Cerises is a remarkable, intense and silky cuvée. Les Chiens Chiens has more finesse and a very pleasant softness for Les Blancs Manteaux.

At Maison Bodet-Hérolt, precision and patience define everything. Founded by oenologists Jérémie and Ludivine Bodet-Hérolt, the estate has become a quiet reference for artisanal sparkling wines in the Loire — expressions of delicacy, purity, and impeccable balance. The Aerlinn Rosé (its name meaning “sea song” in Breton) is their most ethereal cuvée — dry, shimmering, and full of life. The fruit is sourced from organically farmed vineyards near Saumur, fermented with native yeasts, and aged for over two years on lees before disgorgement — with no dosage added. This Brut Nature style brings the wine’s fine acidity and chalky minerality to the forefront, wrapped in a veil of red fruit and gentle florals. Aromas of wild strawberry, blood orange, and crushed rose lead into a palate that’s taut, elegant, and whisper-dry.

While Saumur may be just a mere 30 minutes drive from Chinon, geologically speaking at least, they couldn’t be much more different. Saumur is known for a soft, chalky limestone that makes up the bulk of the bedrock here and which imparts a chiseled minerality to wines. Like Chinon, this is 100% Cabernet Franc. Here however, this wine offers a layered bouquet of wild bramble, tangy red currant, and cracked white pepper, underscored by subtle herbal spice. On the palate, it is silky and generous, revealing notes of fresh black raspberry, dried plum, and a whisper of forest floor. The tannins are finely knit, lending structure without weight, and the finish is persistent, tapering off with hints of savoury spice and mineral tension.

  • Bernard Baudry Chinon / Les Granges - 750ml, 2024

If Chinon’s grandest wines come from the upper slopes, where tuffeau limestone yields Cabernet Franc with deep flavors, a firm structure, and a remarkable capacity for aging, the appellation’s most charming bottlings come from the flatter river banks covered in alluvial sand and gravels. The Baudrys source their cuvée Les Granges from such loose, well-draining soils, whose tendency to warm up quickly in sunny weather favors ripening and avoids any of the austere, vegetal notes for which Cabernet is infamous. What Les Granges lacks in tannic structure, it makes up for in irresistible fruit and heady floral aromas. This is Loire Cabernet in its purest form, low in alcohol but high in perfume, which the Baudrys harness through low-intervention techniques like aging only in concrete and bottling unfiltered with barely any sulfur. That suave, silky texture is a delight when it swishes over the palate, especially when matched to a simple meal from fresh ingredients.

A great classic of the domain where the terroir gives the grape variety a character different from its most common expressions. Similarly on the palate, the profile of a light, tender, tangy wine fades away in favor of a mouth structured by tannins reinforcing the smoky sensation. A powerful wine suitable for many combinations, both with meats in sauce and with smoked food preparations whose character will be reinforced by the wine.

The Story There are many who make wines from their head and less that make it from their heart; Romain Guiberteau is both but definitely leads with his heart. The man is intensely driven by passion and it screams from the bottle upon opening. Like myself, the first time you taste one of his Chenin Blanc wines, it will likely send shivers down your spine. • Labastidie Gaillac Blanc / Le Perle L'Original - 750ml, 2025

This wine is made from the typical indigenous grape varieties of Gaillac, often Mauzac, sometimes complemented by Loin de l'Oeil as well as other local varietals, each contributing its own unique character and freshness. The "perlé" winemaking technique is characteristic of the region and produces a lightly sparkling wine with a fine mousse and moderate juiciness, which adds roundness without masking the wine's natural vivacity. This offers aromas of delicate floral notes enhanced by subtle hints of yeast due to natural effervescence. The off-dry, slightly sparkling character of this wine makes it ideal for accompanying refined aperitifs, tapas from Southwest France, duck rillettes, apple tart, or just casual quaffing.
