Château Gaudin is a 200 year old property that takes its name from the owner in1858, Guillaume Gaudin. Gaudin was a cooper at the time but recognized well the intrinsic value of the terroir. The grapes come from ideally located plots, from old vines whose average age is 45 years, however their oldest plot dates from 1864. Based on roughly 85% Cabernet with small amounts of Merlot, Carmenère, Petit Verdot and Malbec, this wine shows notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and raspberry, accompanied by fine woody notes which give fullness on the palate. The combination of exceptional terroir and skill both in the vineyards and in the cellar make this a fantastic bottle with plenty of life ahead of it.
