Here, the climate is continental but still cool enough to supply a long growing season for those Sauvignon Blanc grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. This iteration by Anthony Girard displays a palate filling texture that wraps the herbal expressions of the varietal in a blanket of viscous fruits that range from grapefruit to guava. The nose shows notes of citrus fruit, along with some peach, flowers and savory herbs. The wine shows good balance on the palate in which the fruit is uplifted by the acidity. This wine shows a very classic Loire Sauvignon character with generous, lifter citrus fruits and a firm mineral backbone.

This displays white fruit and floral aromas along with lemon flavors and smoke on the nose, which indicates a picture-book Sancerre. The wine is full-bodied, rich and round with intense fruit and great structure.

While Saumur may be just a mere 30 minutes drive from Chinon, geologically speaking at least, they couldn’t be much more different. Saumur is known for a soft, chalky limestone that makes up the bulk of the bedrock here and which imparts a chiseled minerality to wines. Like Chinon, this is 100% Cabernet Franc. Here however, this wine offers a layered bouquet of wild bramble, tangy red currant, and cracked white pepper, underscored by subtle herbal spice. On the palate, it is silky and generous, revealing notes of fresh black raspberry, dried plum, and a whisper of forest floor. The tannins are finely knit, lending structure without weight, and the finish is persistent, tapering off with hints of savoury spice and mineral tension.

If Chinon’s grandest wines come from the upper slopes, where tuffeau limestone yields Cabernet Franc with deep flavors, a firm structure, and a remarkable capacity for aging, the appellation’s most charming bottlings come from the flatter river banks covered in alluvial sand and gravels. The Baudrys source their cuvée Les Granges from such loose, well-draining soils, whose tendency to warm up quickly in sunny weather favors ripening and avoids any of the austere, vegetal notes for which Cabernet is infamous. What Les Granges lacks in tannic structure, it makes up for in irresistible fruit and heady floral aromas. This is Loire Cabernet in its purest form, low in alcohol but high in perfume, which the Baudrys harness through low-intervention techniques like aging only in concrete and bottling unfiltered with barely any sulfur. That suave, silky texture is a delight when it swishes over the palate, especially when matched to a simple meal from fresh ingredients.

A great classic of the domain where the terroir gives the grape variety a character different from its most common expressions. If the typical fruitiness of Gamay is present, it is however dominated by warmer notes that evoke smoke and pepper. Located in the heart of Saumur, Domaine Guiberteau’s 14.5 hectares of organically farmed vines are dedicated to the region’s signature varieties, Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. All fruit is destemmed and fermented with native yeasts, aged without new oak (except Arboises and Brézé), and wines are bottled unfined/unfiltered. This pungent and peppery red oozes with flavors of red fruit, earth spice, and potting soil. Serve slightly chilled with grilled veggies, red meats, or mushroom-based dishes. Bright and clean, this Chenin Blanc shows the apple/pear aromas characteristic of many dry styles of Vouvray. With over a year on its lees, this is a very well balanced Chenin Blanc with the clean acidity and the body and texture from a long lees ageing. For what's essentially a declassified Vouvray, this is a steal of a deal!

The nose is fresh and expressive with citrus notes of grapefruit and lemon, white flowers, and hints of green apple and cut grass. Gérard works the soils manually, the vines are farmed using organic methods and all grapes are harvested by hand. The most powerful and complex wine from Boulay's lineup, with an incredible intensity of fruit and a strong mineral core. This dry white is powerful, complex, mineral and racy, able to age for years to come.

This Sancerre is crafted from 30 to 60-year-old vines, from a steep southeast-facing vineyard. Vinified in cuve and aged exclusively in 3-4-year-old 300-litre barrels, it has magnificent aging potential and will be great from now to 2030 and beyond. This wine vintage is characterised by both opulence and freshness, with a medium yellow hue and a reductive, smoky nose with notes of passion fruit, yogurt, grapefruit, pine and hay. Its full-bodied, waxy texture is complemented by juicy citrus acidity, while grassy bitters and a slatey minerality round out the finish. Complex, elegant and finessed, this is a great single-vineyard Sancerre.

Vibrant and fresh with white fruits, pear and apricot and finishes with balanced acidityDomaine Roc de l'Abbaye, owned and operated by the Mollet family for multiple generations, is located in Saint-Satur, a village in the heart of Sancerre with winegrowing origins dating back to the 11th century. Saint-Satur is famous for its ancient Abbey and its Silex (flint) terroir on the hillsides bordering the Loire river. Silex is a coveted soil type, found in only 15% of the vineyards in Sancerre, that produces wines with amazing minerality, acidity and precision with trademark smoky notes.

Made from the slopes of the Loire Valley, this Sauvignon Blanc take advantage of 10th generation of winemaking experience of our family. Very aromatic with pleasant flower and fruit fragrances recalling the flower of the vine and the fruit of the Sauvignon. On the palate it reveals a freshness and vivacity characteristical of grapes harvested at good maturity.

Bursting with zesty citrus and floral notes with just a hint of seabreeze salinity, this is a wine you're going to want again and again before you even taste it. On the palate, it’s crisp and clean, with a vibrant acidity that lifts the fruit and enhances its freshness. The fine bubbles create a smooth texture, while the finish is refreshing and lingering, with a delicate touch of yeast and a hint of salinity that speaks to the coastal influence of the region.

Gerard Boulay is certainly one of the greatest producers in Sancerre. His Sancerre "domaine" comes from average 35 year-old vines on kimmeridgian limestone soils on the hills surrounding the village of Chavignol. 2025 is a superb vintage in Sancerre bringing beautiful ripeness with lovely freshness and elegant fruit to the wine, finishing with the chalky minerality always present in the Boulay Sancerres. Farming is with organic methods, fermentation is with indigenous yeasts.

Arnaud Lambert, like many of the wine world’s luminaries-in-the-making, has adopted the philosophical approach to allow the terroir to define the wines, rather than the other way around. He’s most known for his wines grown on Brézé.

First made as a single parcel in 2010, La Côte comes from the majestic La Grande Côte vineyard (sometimes referred to as La Côte d’Amigny), a south/southeast-facing hillside on the outskirts of Chavignol. La Côte has quickly become one of the heavyweights of Boulay’s range. This is the domaine’s coolest terroir and the last to be picked. The site’s pure Kimmeridgian limestone soils and the late picking date deliver density and alluring precision on the palate. The palate is super filigreed and focused, driven by forceful acidity and lovely purity, stretching to a super long, candied grapefruit, salt-licked finish.

The nose is floral and fruity: white flowers, citrus fruits, and the characteristic mineral tension of great Sancerre. On the palate, it is lively and refreshing — precise, energetic, and beautifully focused, with a clean, mineral-driven finish that speaks clearly of its terroir. A wine of genuine distinction in every sip.

Blend of Pinot Noir, Cot (Malbec) + Gamay. From the Loire Valley, this cuvée is known as “Les Griottes” or ‘the cherries’ as its gentle flavor and character has notes of red fruits (cherry blackcurrant), with a hint of spices in the finish. Farmed sustainably and fermented with indigenous yeasts.

While this wine shares the same kind of exuberance and drinkability that it's cousins in Beaujolais offer, it's actually made from a local clone of Gamay that's called Gamay Saint-Romain which is an old local variant of Beaujolais Gamay. While its exact origin remains uncertain, the earliest records trace it back to Benedictine monks in the 13th century. Planted on well-draining granitic soils shaped by the erosion of the volcanic Massif Central, it ripens later than its Beaujolais cousin, delivering subtle spicy peppery notes while retaining vibrant natural freshness. Aromas of fresh raspberry, wild strawberry, ginger snap spice, and white flowers lead into a lively palate where raspberry meets a bright citrus edge.

The Denizot Sancerre Blanc offers a dense, well-balanced profile with a vibrant energy punctuated by hints of juicy white fruit. The blend brings chalky notes, providing a crisp, mineral structure, along with delicate and luscious fruity notes.

This bright pink Rosé de Loire is nearly all Cabernet Franc, offering explosive crunchy red fruit, mid-palate tension, and a dry, food-friendly finish. This is a balanced, focused wine that is ready to enjoy tonight, offering a refreshing look at the region’s capability for clean, expressive production. Boudignon has rapidly earned a place among the best names in Loire valley winemaking.

Over the past decade, Edmond and Anne Vatan’s Sancerre “Clos la Néore” has gone, from virtually unknown outside the Loire, to becoming a top prize among sommeliers, merchants and connoisseurs worldwide. What they realize is that, from this small plot within Les Monts Damnés — Sancerre’s greatest vineyard — the Vatans fashion transcendently complex, very long-lived Sancerre that is among the world’s most riveting white wines. In fact, in how extraordinarily it develops with age, Vatan’s Clos la Néore has more in common with a Raveneau or Dauvissat Chablis than with most Sancerres. The 2022 Sancerre Clos La Néore (magnum) is another rich, dense wine. Dried orchard fruit, chamomile, marzipan, sage and white flowers build effortlessly in the glass. Like so many vintages, the 2022 really benefits from aeration. As that happens, the wine shows more freshness, cut and verve to play off the natural richness of the vintage.

Very aromatic, aromas of red fruits like raspberries & cherries and peaches. Broad on the entry. Very rich over the palate with a fresh, elegant finish. Good aromatic persistence. This wine comes from the alluvial soils on the left bank of the Vienne river composed of sand and gravel. The freshness of the Cabernet Franc planted in these soils creates a fresh aromatic rosé. Chinon is the rose you didn't know you were waiting for.

"Blanc etc." (formerly Blanc Fumé de Pouilly) is the estate’s soul-stirring entry into the Dagueneau universe. Sourced from younger vines across their biodynamically farmed parcels, the 2023 is a masterclass in controlled energy. It hits the palate with a crystalline purity, offering up electric notes of lemon zest, white flowers, and a shivering, flinty mineral backbone.

Pur Sang is one of the core cuvées from Domaine Dagueneau, the Saint-Andelain estate built by Didier Dagueneau and now run by Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau. Pur Sang was the second parcel bottling from Dagueneau. Coming from a small vineyard known as La Folie, it is just north of the village of Saint-Andelain. Its gentle slope has a south, southeast facing exposure and is made up primarily of deep clay-limestone. The Pur Sang shines of brilliance, concentration and expression, with opulent mineral ripeness, due to the warm, dry vintage.

The Silex cuvée is sourced from flint-rich soils along the Loire River, where a cool climate and excellent drainage allow for both ripeness and precision. Barrel fermented and aged mostly in 450 and 600 liter barrels, as well as some of Dagueneau's famous cigar barrels. Designed by the late Didier, these barrels are 350 liters and aggressively elongated. Compact and impressively built, it will gradually muscle up to unleash its phenomenal strength over the next few years.

Dagueneau crosses the river into Sancerre, and lands on its greatest terroir. The south-facing, steep site has white soil packed with chalk. The historic name of the parcel or climat (within Les Monts Damnés) is Les Vignes Blanches, reflecting the calcareous soils. Despite the steep aspect, Dagueneau notes that it is one of the cooler terroirs of Les Monts Damnés. Deep, concentrated, hedonistic, this is a wine to remind us why Chavignol was so revered in the pre-phylloxera period.

Chateau du Hureau is among the top names in Saumur, run by fifth-generation vigneron Philippe Vatan and his daughter Agathe, farming parcels around Dampierre-sur-Loire and Champigny. Beautiful nose of flowers, honeysuckle, beeswax and a deep herbal note of tarragon and marjoram. Bright and juicy on the palate, offering fresh apricot, mango, even candied citrus and citrus peel. There's wonderful, fresh acidity, and a long, juicy fruit finish, balanced by notes of pith and crushed stone.

We’ve long been of the mindset that Muscadet is the wine that you should be drinking but aren’t. I mean, what’s not to love? This wine is certified organic, it shows remarkable aromatic finesse, with plenty of white fruit aromas, intense oyster shell minerality and a super crisp finish.

Bordering Sancerre to the southwest, the commune of Menetou-Salon has quietly been making some of the Loire Valley's top value Sauvignon Blancs for many years. With a profile that falls somewhere between that taut and energetic character of Sancerre, and the more assertive Pouilly-Fume, Menetou-Salon is one heck of a delicious option for the discerning Sauvignon Blanc drinker. Assertive on the nose with hints of citrus, peach and white flowers. When swirled the bouquet further reveals its aromatic potential and complexity. The initial taste is crisp and full, soft yet well balanced thanks to its acidity. Notes of white flowers compliment the fruit aromas beautifully.

Made from 100% Pineau d'Aunis, Persan is a blue from the eyes of Athena, a single parcel bottling, and a living wine imagined and vinified by Pauline Lair. The grapes were grown by Benoit Brazilier on a beautiful terroir of flint limestone in the Touraine region of France’s beautiful Loire Valley. On the nose, Persan offers an intriguing bouquet of fresh blueberries, violets, and a hint of wet stone. The palate is vibrant with notes of ripe blackberries, blackcurrants, and a touch of minerality that adds depth and complexity.

Beatrice et Pascal Lambert are organic and biodynamic wine producers based in the Loire Valley of France, specializing in Chinon wines. Their Les Terrasses Chinon captures Cabernet Franc's aromatic complexity – that beautiful tension between fruit, florals, and savory herbal notes that makes the variety so fascinating.

The wine exhibits a bouquet of citrus fruits, particularly grapefruit, along with herbal notes and hints of flint, which is characteristic of the Pouilly Fumé region. On the palate, it is fresh and zesty, showcasing flavors of lemon and lime, complemented by a mineral backbone. The wine is well-balanced with a crisp acidity that enhances its refreshing quality. In the heart of Puy-Notre-Dame, Saumur, L’Austral has brought a new perspective with Australian influence to Loire Valley wines. Pauline Mourrain and Laurent Troubat took over Chateau Tour Grise when the prior owners were looking to retire. Their "Octopus" Saumur Blanc is made from 100% Chenin Blanc and shows very pure, developing notes of pear, white flowers, and fresh lemon. The palate is lively, round, and fresh. Minerality carries the wine and makes it mouthwatering.

The Baudrys cultivate Cabernet Franc in all of the many soil types of Chinon and bottle several single-vineyard cuvées, ending up with an astonishing variety of expressions from this one grape. Les Grézeaux comes from their oldest vines—more than sixty years old—planted in gravelly alluvial soil near the Vienne River, which yield a simultaneously concentrated and silky rouge that is very much ready to drink today but will age beautifully over at least the next ten to fifteen years. With perfectly integrated tannins and notes of blackberries, forest floor, and stones, Les Grézeaux is a shining example of the heights Cabernet Franc can attain.

Chai de la Dive is a collaborative project born from Saumur's Romain Guiberteau, Brendan Stater-West, Camille Guiberteau (Romain's daughter) and her partner, Alex Crochet. This dream team of vignerons has created Chai de la Dive to showcase the marvelous wines of the Loire, and Saumur in particular as well as to demonstrate a growing commitment to the local organic farming community by purchasing high-quality fruit from neighboring vineyards. The results have been nothing short of stellar. 100% Cabernet Franc, with a delicate pink hue and vibrant acidity, this wine offers a harmonious blend of red berry fruits, floral notes, and mineral undertones. Its crisp texture and refreshing finish make it an ideal companion for a variety of dishes.
