Piuze’s Chablis La Grande Vallée offers aromas of pear, oyster shell, lemon oil and spring flowers. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, taut and incisive, with a pure and crisp core of fruit and an energetic profile, marked by plenty of classically Chablisien marine notes on its long finish. The vineyard is located on the left bank of the Serein river, below the Montmains premier cru, right below Les Forêts on a 1.8 hectare parcel (4.4 acres) within the original historic AOC Chablis boundaries. Patrick only sources wine from the original 12th century Chablis boundaries, which means that all his cuvees hail from the celebrated Kimmeridgian limestone—a unique terroir rich in fossils, prized for creating stony, complex Chardonnays.
