Quincy (kan-SEE), the appellation, has no relation to the city next to Braintree. In fact, it is situated in the eastern Loire valley not far from the better known Sauvignon Blanc centers of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume. Here, the climate is continental but still cool enough to supply a long growing season for those Sauvignon Blanc grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. This iteration by Anthony Girard displays a palate filling texture that wraps the herbal expressions of the varietal in a blanket of viscous fruits that range from grapefruit to guava. Whispers of meadow grass and pearl onion join in astride the wine's focusing acid backbone. In other words, there is a lovely tension between the ripeness and structure in this complex wine that grabs your attention and holds it!
