If Barolo and Barbaresco were two corners of a triangle, Roero would be the third, most northerly point. In the hills above Priocca, sommelier-turned-winemaker Renato Vezza tends vines on Roero’s steepest slopes, owned by his family for four generations. Surrounded by native hazelnut trees and farmed without chemicals, these spectacular vineyards have had organic certification since 1990. Renato's Vino Rosso is 100% Nebbiolo and carries the serious structure you’d expect from Barolo or Barbaresco, but with the lifted perfume that’s so distinctive to Roero’s sandy soils. Perfumed and elegant with notes of fresh cut flowers, ripe red cherry, and just a hint of earthy spice, this is a wonderfully distinct expression of Nebbiolo.
