Le Lucciole, the fireflies, is Chiara Condello's single-vineyard Riserva from a 0.8-hectare parcel in the heart of Predappio, the most respected sub-zone of Romagna. The vines, planted at 250 meters on spungone-rich clay-limestone soils, are farmed biodynamically. This is the wine that has helped place Romagna Sangiovese in the same conversation as top Chianti Classico, now in a format built for celebrations and long horizons. The 2022 shows red cherry and cranberry with rose, wild herbs and a subtle ferrous, earthy note. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine, chalky tannins and vibrant acidity; oak is very discreet.

Hand harvested in the second week of September to balance ripeness and acidity, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel while macerating on the skins for 28 days and aged for another 6 months. This results in a brilliant ruby red, medium bodied wine with aromas of herbs and fresh fruit, flavors of ripe cherry, raspberry, tobacco, and black pepper with dry silky tannins and balanced acidity.
