From one of our favorite Chilean producers, this Cabernet has arming aromas of blackberry, currant, and allspice. On the palate this wine shows a nice balance between tannins and fruit, with flavors of black fruit, green pepper, and cedar. A medium bodied Cab perfect for pairing with red meat and hearty stews.

ABOUT A unique expression of Cinsault. The cold climate and presenceo of volcanic soils make the potential for super fresh and mineral red wine. The more well know expression of Cinsault is challenged by the Itata Hills with wines like this. The unusual concentration, the lingering tannins, the freshness that makes it to last long, the fresh red fruits and mineral notes at the end of palate tipical of volcanic soils, adds to the unique character of this wine. TASTING NOTES light-to-medium bodied with rusty-red fruit, tons of mineral and savoriness.

This 100% Pais from Chile's Maule Valley blew us away when we tasted it. From a 200 year old single vineyard, the wine is bright, fresh, and crunchy with notes of raspberry, strawberry, and tart cranberries with a touch of lavender that leads into a refreshing palate of red fruit with an acid driven backbone. This unfiltered and unfined wine is made in a light style that is wonderful served with a chill.

Pedro Parra is a genius. No really, this man is remarkable in the wine world. He’s a geologist with a PhD in Agronomy who consults with some of the most prestigious producers in Burgundy (Roulot comes to Pedro when they need advice about vineyard management) when he’s not consulting with winemakers in the United States and Chile as well. Oh yeah, he also makes some of the most expressive wines I’ve tasted in ages. His Imaginador is basically Cinsault,although there are the occasional vines of Carignan, Muscat, Semillon, and Pais randomly growing in the heritage vineyards sites he works with and scant amounts of those make their way into this wine. The nose is powerful with cherry notes and just a hint of barnyardy goodness. On the palate this is focused with loads of dark fruits and pronounced mineral structure. Burgundy drinkers would do well to take a bottle of this home.

As impressive and singular as the red wines from Pedro Parra are, the 2024 Resolution was the wine I found the most multifaceted and striking. It impressively captures a contemporary expression of Chardonnay produced with a global perspective while also perfectly representing its origins in Cobquecura, Itata. Its bouquet delivers a quintessential and compelling mix of struck flint, cheese rind, honey, fennel and dried jasmine, set against a core of green orchard fruits, while the mouthfeel exudes considerable density, mouth-coating richness, lively acidity and a sturdy rudder of minerality. It concludes with a stunning, orchestral finish that brings together the floral, herbal and stony nuances of the nose in retronasal form while lingering with incredible resonance, energy and depth. Of a handful of Chilean Chardonnays moving the needle and redefining what is possible with the grape, I found this to be the most impressive.

The Carménère Reserve benefits from the warm days and cool nights in the Maipo Valley, a region noted for the exceptional purity of fruit flavors in its wines. The Reserve wines from Casa Julia are sourced from the older more exclusive plantings in the Maipo Valley.On the nose, dark fruit aromas paired with a distinctive vegetable note, similar to a green pepper. On the palate, you find blueberry and plum mixed with earthy undertones and firm tannins.
