Notes from the Wine Director: An evening with the winemaker/owners of Domaine Travelle

Notes from the Wine Director: A Provençal Evening with Domaine Travelle
Thursday, August 14th | 5–7PM | The Spirited Gourmet, Belmont, MA

A couple of summers ago, I made the decision to dial back the number of rosés we carry during the height of the season. At one point, we had nearly 40 different rosé selections on the shelves—great fun to promote, sure, but it created a bit of decision fatigue for some of our guests. These days, we still offer 25 to 30 during peak season (which is still a lot by any measure), but we’ve also leaned hard into another category I’m passionate about: chillable reds.

The response has been incredible. Year after year, we’ve expanded the selection based on your feedback, and these lighter, fresher reds have found a true place at the summer table.

That’s why I was especially excited when I got the chance to taste Domaine Travelle’s Fleur de Lys. This wine hit all the right notes: juicy bramble and berry fruits, a gentle peppery lift, a whisper of saline minerality—it all comes together in a red that’s light on its feet but undeniably expressive. It has that unmistakable Mediterranean soul, and it’s built for outdoor meals, grilled foods, and long evenings with friends and family.

We’re thrilled to be welcoming Amy and Pierre, the owners and winemakers behind Domaine Travelle, for a special tasting event on Thursday, August 14th from 5–7PM here at The Spirited Gourmet.

Their estate, located in the heart of Provence, is something special. Built on the grounds of a former 19th-century silk mill, the vineyard is lined with old mulberry trees that once supported the silk industry. Today, those same trees shade a sustainably farmed vineyard producing some of the most honest, elegant, and deeply rooted wines I’ve come across in a while.

Amy and Pierre pour their hearts into these wines, and you can taste that integrity in every sip. We can’t wait to share them with you.

Come by, taste with us, and experience a little slice of Provence right here in Belmont.
