July 19th 2025 Wine Tasting Notes

2023, La Mesma, “La Rose” Gavi, Piedmont, Italy $19.99/$16.99
Sisters Paola, Francesca, and Anna Rosina started La Mesma as a passion project at the behest of their mother with no
winemaking experience, now two decades later they’re producing some very exciting and award winning wines. “Le
Rose” comes to us from the Tassarolo vineyards where the red clay soils rich in iron allow for more concentrated fruit
flavors and aromas, particularly the classic lemony qualities the grape is known for. Delicate aromatics of chamomile
and white peach unfold to a punchy palate of meyer lemon, grapefruit, and pear, closing with saline minerality and a
nice long finish.

2024, Ovum Wines, Big Salt “Orange Rose”, Willamette Valley, Oregon
$24.99/$21.24
You’ve had Big Salt, and you’ve had Pnk Salt, now it’s time to try this. Big Salt “Orange Rose” is nearly an equal blend of
ramato style Pinot gris, and Big Salt fermented & aged in neutral barrel. It has a sunset cranberry color that comes as a
result of Pinot gris skins being blended with the tangerine hues of Big Salt. Its aromas remind one of an orange
creamsicle stirred into a cup of hibiscus tea, steeped with autumnal spices. Roasted carrot, ginger, red apple skin are on
the palate. Perfect for sipping around a bonfire.

2024, Gobelsburg, “Cistercien” Rose, Kamptal, Austria
$19.99/$16.99
Gobelsburg’s Rose is always a winner, year after year. Intensely dry and mineral-driven, this wine exudes charming
elegance, vibrant aromas, and a refreshing palate. It offers a bright yet delicate bouquet of red fruits; crushed
strawberries, cherries, and violets. While the profound acidity adds a delightful zest, that is sure to please.

2022, Jax “Y3” Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, California
$29.99/$25.49
Jax Y3 Pinot Noir is a classic expression of the lush character that Pinot Noir from Russian River is capable of. Medium-
bodied with a tart, refreshing line and chewy texture supporting the juicy, mouth-filling flavors, it finishes on a stewed-
tea note with layers of blackberry and Bing cherry that linger beautifully on the finish. The supple tannins and bright
acidity showcase balanced precision.

2017, Gomez Cruzado, “Vina Dorana” Rioja Reserva, Rioja, Spain
$37.99/$32.29
The winemaking team at Gomez Cruzado believe that the Alto Najerilla vineyard (where this wine originates) is one of
the freshest places in Rioja, with the ability to produce sapid and sharp wines. They always handle their elevage so that
the barrel character is subtle, while the quality of the fruit and the terroir overall are allowed to shine through. This
oorgeous red shows a juicy character with lots of blackberry, earthy spice, and light oak aromas and flavors. Mushroom
and cedar, too. It’s full-bodied, layered and rich with a
