July 25th, 2025 Wine Tasting Notes Thu, Jul 24, 25 Friday July 25th Sean from Classic Wine pinch hits! Regular$/Tasting$ 2023, Massican, Pinot Grigio, Sonoma, California $31.99/$27.19 This Pinot Grigio is your perfect everyday white wine. Fragrant on the nose, dry on the palate, and maintaining freshness and vibrancy throughout, this wine reminds you of the Mediterranean. The aromas and flavors of fresh flowers, citrus, sea salt, and almonds not only make it the perfect wine to drink before dinner with early evening snacks but also versatile enough to hold its own at the table. 2022, Failla, Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast, California $39.99/$33.99 This Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is a beautiful example of how cool-climate expressions of this grape can shine. The nose is fragrant with notes of jasmine, citrus, and green herbs. The palate is elegant with supple depth and wonderful acidity. It's a pleasure to sip. 2024, Masseria Li Veli, “Askos” Susumaniello Rosato, Puglia, Italy $25.99/$22.09 Masseria Li Veli features little-known native grape varieties of Puglia in its Askos line. With just 125 acres in all of Italy, Susumaniello certainly fits in that category. Dry and exceedingly minerally, there is great substance to go along with its fabulous aromatics and persistent flavors. Pale pink, crystal and bright; elegant bouquet, persistent and aromatic notes of strawberry and cranberry. Light weight in the mouth with waves of flavor across the palate. Savory finish with a touch of acidity. 2023, Argiano, “Non Confunditur” Toscana Rosso, Tuscany, Italy $24.99/$21.24 Argiano Non Confunditur is a red blend with a decisive, full-bodied character, smooth tannins and a persistent finish. Relatively gentle Merlot bridges the earthiness of Sangiovese, the darker black currant flavors of Cabernet Sauvignon and the warm red berries of Syrah. The result is a wine with generous flavors of red berries, a background of earth and minerality, and the smooth tannins and elegant structure and finish to make this wine approachable young with the potential for moderate aging. 2019, Casa Ferreirinha, “Esteva” Douro Tinto, Douro Valley, Portugal $17.99/$15.29 This wine has a nice intensity with notes of red berries, such as strawberries and cherries, and floral hints of violet and rockrose, alongside balsamic tones of resin, cedar and tobacco box. Smooth on the palate, this wine has prominent yet polished tannins, a well-integrated acidity and a harmonious finish. Hyper traditional winemaking is Casa Ferreirinha’s calling card and this wine totally over-delivers. Grill up some sausages and peppers to go along with this. By Laura Maloney
