Wines and Beers of the Week
Five celebration wines and three all-American beers.
Wines
Red, White, & Glou-Glou! Five wines to celebrate the 4th!
2025, So Far Out, “Bright White” White Wine, Santa Barbara County, California $21.00/$17.85
The nose opens with zesty citrus, white peach, and honeysuckle, followed by layers of tropical fruit and a hint of fresh
cut herbs.
2022, Forge Cellars, Tango Oaks Vineyard” Riesling, Finger Lakes, New York $25.00/$21.25
Deeply extracted, generous and intense. Everything is amplified here. Ripe golden apple, salted lemon and toasted spices
build in a multilayered wine of power and finesse. This big, burly Riesling is a winner.
2025, Eric Kent, “Appellation Series” Rose, Sonoma, California $23.00/$19.55
Born from vineyard sites in and around the Sonoma Coast area, this rose is a light and bright style with notes of cherries
and watermelon. Easy going, refreshing and classic, with a lingering dry finish. Classically Californian and oh so tasty!
2023, Biale Vineyards, “Party Line” Zinfandel, North Coast, California $35.00/$29.75
Party Line is a throwback to the old days of Zinfandel when California’s wine-growing families made wine for everyday consumption.
2022, Vermillion, Red Blend, North Coast, California $33.00/$28.05
In northern California, winemaker Helen Keplinger is a serious powerhouse. After cutting her teeth at a series of standout wineries—including Grace Family, Bryant Family, Carte Blanche and others—she was named Wine & Spirits Magazine’s 2012 Winemaker of the Year and. Today, most of her bottles boast prices sized to match her big list of her accomplishments. That’s one reason she created ‘Vermillion,’ a passion project in partnership with her husband DJ Warner. Vermillion Red Blend is a bold, Rhône-inspired wine that showcases her exceptional winemaking prowess. This nose is bold and aromatic, with layers of blackberry, spiced plum, and dark cherry, complemented by notes of black pepper, star anise, cocoa, dried lavender, candied purple flowers, and crushed stone. Silky tannins and juicy acidity lead to a lingering finish with echoes of grilled herbs and pink peppercorns.
Beers
Barbecue Beers!
As we marinate our veggies, make the dressings for our slaws, and get ready to fire up that grill, we need our trusty partner in crime – our perfect beers for our barbecue fun! Tonight, Guinevere will be showcasing some delectable pairings perfect for you to enjoy tomorrow along with all the things you are making (to drink before, during, and after of course)!
Helles (Hofbrauhaus, 4.9%) $16.50/$14.03
With a full-bodied, slightly malty taste leading to a refined finish, this beer is world famous. Its rich and exceptionally mature taste provides a sophisticated bitterness in the finish. Light malt notes and a delicate hop aroma create a harmonious beer that always pleases.
Pine Rickey (Hard Seltzer, Apres, Portland, ME 5.1%) $15.50/$13.18
As to not get too full of beer and appetizers too fast, take a step back with this refreshing drink! As someone who is not normally a hard seltzer fan but does love a good lime rickey, this is a perfect way to break up the afternoon and feel ‘hydrated.’ Pine Rickey is crisp and citrusy, made with a blend of lemon and lime, and ending with a slightly bitter pine finish.
Helles (Lager, Lightly Smoked, 4.3%) $18.00/$15.30
Our burgers are hot off of the grill, cheese beautifully melted, slaws and salads are ready, and all we are missing is a beer to have with it! Lagered in century old caves, boiled in the same copper kettles, and fermented by the same yeast as the historic Schlenkerla Smokebeer, this brew is made with fine Bavarian hops. This brew is dry, crisp, and has the perfect amount of smokiness to pair with your barbecue.
