Beers of the Week
Three fresh summer ciders
Beers
This is a fantastic night to join us for a tasting. It’s been a bit since we had a cider tasting, and summer time is a great time to get stuck in with them again. Tonight we’ll have a sweeter cider from the backwoods of Maine, alongside a couple of Continental ciders to broaden your horizons. On the other side of the shop, we're hosting Haliotide Wines, for a Meet the Maker tasting.
Be sure to stop by and say hi!
Get ready for drinks and a show, folks! Let’s go, allons-y and vamos!
Mainiac Mac Blueberry (Sweet Blueberry Cider, Ricker Hill, Turner, ME, 5%)
Blueberries in New England are a regional favorite, and Ricker Hill, a family owner and operated cidery and orchard that’s been around since 1803, takes that love and runs it with. Blending fresh blueberries with their own Macintosh apples, this brisk cider transports you to the woods of Maine for a mental picnic.
Sydre Argelette (Semi-Dry Cider, Bordelet, Normandy, FR, 5.4%)
Eric Bordelet's Sydre Argelette is his Grand Cru cider - the most superior and excellent blend from his cider production. Argelette is an ancient name for the red, iron pebbles prominent in the soil around Eric Bordelet's orchard. This complex cider is made annually using the same blend of apples, including several bitter varieties, as well as sweet, and tangy apple varieties. Nice aromatics of apple butter, fresh juice, minerality, peppercorns, and honeycomb. Foamy bubbles give it a soft mouthfeel. Ripe apple fruit and a soft sweetness on front of palate.
Sagardo (Natural Ferment Dry Cider, Isastegi, Tolosa, Basque Region, ESP, 6.0%)
One of the oldest cideries in Spain, Isastegi is a family owned estate dating back to the 17th century. Using a variety of sharp and tangy apples harvested right from their own orchards, this funky and tart cider is both a taste of the region and a peek into the culture. For drinks and a show, this is sure to amaze your guests, especially when you show off your skills in pouring from height!
