2022, Domaine de la Noblaie, “Chante le Vent” Chinon Blanc, Loire, France $30.00/$25.50
White Chinon is about as rare as it gets. With only 2% of the AOC planted to Chenin Blanc, it is made by only a handful of estates, and only a small amount is allocated to the United States. This unusual and exceptional white Chinon comes from the Chenin blanc grape variety, and has aromas of citrus fruit, flowers and white peach. A waxy, floral masterpiece from 50-year-old vines grown on tuffeau soils, the beautiful minerality on the finish never disappoints.
2025, Le Petit Balthazar, Rose of Cinsault, Languedoc, France $13.00/$11.05
Is it white? Is it rose? Both? Who cares! This is so light, crisp, and refreshing that you’re going to need to take a couple for those occasions when the heat is doing its thing. Le Petit Balthazar Cinsault Rose is a perfect summer sipper. This refreshing dry Rose has aromas of strawberries and blueberries perfectly balanced by flavors of raspberry and watermelon with just a hint of herbs.
2023, Giornata, “Il Campo” Rosso, Paso Robles, California $24.00/$20.40
A blend of Sangiovese, Aglianico, Barbera and Nero d'Avola, the Il Campo Rosso is beamingly bright, red-fruited and herbal on the nose, followed by a dramatically darker and more saturated palate than expected given the energy of the nose. It concludes with a perfect mix of juicy fruits, powdery tannins and a slightly charred, earthy touch that lends a bit of complexity.
2020, Marques de Caceres, Rioja Reserva, Rioja, Spain $21.00/$17.85
A bouquet of blackberry and chocolate-covered orange peel drifts upward from this inky garnet-colored wine. It feels juicy on the palate at first, with flavors of black cherry and raspberry that are quickly joined by notes of clove, bittersweet chocolate and black olives. Durable tannins linger in a fruit-filled finish.
2023, Tua Rita, “Rosso dei Notri” Toscana Rosso, Tuscany, Italy $27.00/$22.95
Dense and lush, Tua Rita has long been known for the production of Cabernet and Merlot based wines that have become favorites for fans of the darker, more full-bodied styles typically associated with the Bolgheri region just to the west. Primarily Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with a handful of other varieties making up the blend, this has a broad and structured palate with plenty of blackberry and blueberry notes that are bolstered by elements of cedar, fresh tobacco, and sage notes.
