Join us Friday, July 31st, 5 - 7P, as Casey takes us on a delicious tour through Italy with five incredible Italian wines from his impressive portfolio.

Fresh off her European adventure, Guinevere will be stepping in for Ryan at the barrel, pouring a few special beers to round out the evening. And of course, we couldn't celebrate Italy without cheese! Gabbie will be sharing perfect pairings featuring Parmigiano Reggiano and fresh, creamy burrata.

Grillo Iole Sauvignon - 750ml, 2022

Northern Italy may not be the first place that comes to mind when it comes to Sauvignon Blanc, but it’s been cultivated in regions like Friuli and Alto-Adige since the late 19th century with great success. In fact, Sauvignon played a decisive part in the revival of Italian wine in the mid-1980s. This wine shows an intense nose that's never cloying with subtle notes of tomato leaf, pepper, sage, mown grass, nettle, and spice box. There are hints of yellow and even tropical fruit. The taste is fresh and mineral and does not disappoint expectations. A superb example of Italian Sauvignon Blanc.

Montenidoli Canaiuolo / Toscana Rosato - 750ml, 2025

Elisabetta refers to this wine as the “Champagne of Montenidoli.” It is the perfect wine to drink at any joyful moment of the day! This is organically farmed 100% Canaiuolo from 65 year old vines. The bouquet opens with raspberries & violets, progressing to orange blossoms and citrus aromatics. On the palate, it is full bodied, quite dry with well balanced acidity and some warm berry flavors. The finish is long, saline and mineral, which keeps you coming back for more. A great food wine!

Fratelli Alessandria Verduno Pelaverga - 750ml, 2025

Since the mid-19th century, the Alessandria family has called Verduno, at the northern edge of the Barolo zone, home. The Pelaverga grape is cultivated only in Verduno, just down the northern slope of La Morra hill in Barolo. The grape doesn’t have much color or body, but what it lacks in tannin and heft, it makes up for in delightful, distinctive aromatics. At Alessandria, they call it Speziale, the local description for the distinctive pepper and spice of Pelaverga. Theirs leans toward wild strawberry with a dash of plum jam and decidedly herbal notes like rosemary, wild thyme and anise with a dash of freshly cracked black pepper at the end.

La Casaccia, Grignolino del Monferrato / Casalese Poggeto - 750ml, 2024

Poggeto is the top of the hill owned by Giovanni Rava and his wife Elena. It is quite close to their cellar in the village of Cella Monte, in the northern Monferrato. The vines are at high elevation and grow in limestone rich, brittle and porous soils. Grignolino is a rare Piemontese specialty that makes light-bodied, fun, slightly eccentric wines. Transparent and bright violet in color, this offering from La Cassacia is tangy and fruity with lean minerality and the characteristic tinge of almond. Light and incredibly quaffable, this is a fantastic “picnic” red. Ideally served lightly chilled.

Le Piane Nebbiolo / Colline Novaresi - 750ml, 2025

Produced with Nebbiolo and Vespolina grapes from the Novara hills in the Altopiemonte. This wine is the fruit of Altopiemonte's vocation for flavor, fragrance, crispness of fruit and drinkability. On the palate, the wine is crisp, juicy, and velvety, showcasing the lighter, more vertical profile typical of Alto Piemonte. Red berry fruit merges with floral lift and a whisper of spice, carried by fine tannins and a clean, mineral-driven finish.

Beers of the Week

Meant to represent those light and easy drinking Mexican style lagers, but at craft beer quality, ABC has created the perfect super refreshing lager that always tastes good, but especially on a hot Boston day. The Craft Beer Geek sez: Light, crisp and thirst quenching, which makes this beer perfect for a day in the sun. The hops used in this beer give it a bright citrus flavor and aroma, so no need to add a lime. Grab a 4-pack, your bathing suit, and head for the beach!

Local Kolsch / Moon Hill, 4-Pack

Local Kolsch is crisp, clean, easy drinking Kolsch style beer from Moon Hill brewing. Light on the tongue, with an assertive but not aggresive flavor, this delectable beer harkens back to the traditional styles brewed in and around Cologne, Germany, but made much closer to our home. The Craft Beer Geek sez: Kolsch style beers are not something a lot of domestic breweries make for one reason or another, and it's a shame. If you're looking for something like a lager, but with a little more complexity, try this one for size, and you'll end up with a smile on your face.

Lazy Lightning / Timberyard Brewing, 4-Pack

A pale ale with some additional hopping, this delectable beer by Timberyard is well balanced, with a malt backbone that helps mellow out the hoppy bitterness while leaving those wonderful piney aromas. The Craft Beer Geek sez: With a bright clean hop aroma that leads you into a crisp malty moderately full body with a whisper of earthiness, Lazy Lightning is a seasonal brew of Timberyard’s, showing a harmonious balance of ingredients that typifies a truly great pale ale. Lighter and cleaner than your typical IPA, this is definitely a pale ale first and foremost, with a gentle hop backbone.
