Wines
2024, Maison Chavet, “Le Petit Georges” Sauvignon Blanc, Loire, France $20.00/$17.00
Not your typical Loire Sauvignon Blanc, while this shows plenty of citrus zest and distinct mineral backbone, there are elements of yuzu and lemongrass that lend the wine a more exotic character than you might expect. Totally. Delicious.
2024, Les Petite Jamelles, Blanc, France $20.00/$17.00
This refreshing white wine hails from the picturesque landscapes of Gard, Hérault, Aude, and Pyrénées-Orientales in the Occitanie region of southern France. Known for its historic sites and diverse terrains, the region features a vineyard at about 350 meters above sea level with clay, silt, and gravel soils. The blend includes Colombard, Grenache Blanc, Terret, Roussanne, and Muscat, resulting in a fresh and fruity wine with notes of tropical fruits, citrus, and bergamot.
2024, Turley, Rose of Zinfandel, Napa, California $28.00/$23.80
This is a crisp, dry rosé with excellent length and character, owing to organically and dry-farmed old vines planted in the 1950s. Absolutely gorgeous and luminously colored, with rose petal, peach pit and spiced wild strawberry. Elegant and polished on the palate with a pleasurable finish. There’s a reason Zinfandel is the most successful rosé grape in the world!
2021, Unico Zelo, “Little Red” Red Blend, Adelaide, South Australia $23.00/$19.55
Drinkability first and foremost. Yup, ice-bucket-worthy wine here again. Big red cherry, cranberry vibrancy, crisp golden apples, slate minerality, toasted cumin-like spice, fennel fronds - little bit going on but still a brilliantly fruit-driven quaffer. So fresh it feels like fermentation finished yesterday. A perfect gateway into the Tropo range.
2022, Weingut Rings, Spätburgunder, Pfalz, Germany $22.00/$18.70
This wine opens with fresh, finely sour cherry scents with notes of elderberries, delicate herbal notes, a hint of tobacco and smoke. The palate presents clear, cool, juicy, and youthful fruit. There's a bit of textural bite with youthful fine tannins and chalky-salty tones in the background that lead to a succulent and slightly spicy finish.
