Anthony Road ’06
Dry Pinot Gris
(Finger Lakes, NY)
DRY WHITE
Reg Price/This Month $17.99/$15.29
Anthony Road is located in Yates County on the
west side of Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes region
of
New
York State. Pinot Gris: a.k.a. Pinot Grigio, is a
delightful wine. Although dry and crisp, the wine
has a bit more weight than other Pinot Grigios
making it share more traits with a French Pinot Gris
than an Italian Pinot Grigio. With a lovely citric
finish, the wine will pair well with lots of summer
fare including salads, shrimp cocktail and grilled
salmon. (Depending on the season and the amount
of skin contact allowed, the wine will have a
slight, pale blush because the skin of the Pinot
Gris grape has a grayish hue to it). |

James Petit ’09
Bourgueil Rosé (Loire, France)
DRY
ROSÉ
Reg Price/This Month $19.99/16.99
This is a marvelous rendition of Cabernet Franc,
here in its incarnation as a Bourgueil Rosé produced
by
James Petit. This is a graceful and dignified wine
with lots of class. This should prove to be a
particularly fine reason to pay attention to an
underappreciated appellation that offers stunning
value. Juicy, with flavors of strawberries and
cherries, this delicate rosé will work with any dish
with similar delicate properties. |

Milbrandt Vineyards
’08 Riesling Traditions (Columbia Valley,
Washington)
DRY
WHITE
Reg Price/This Month $13.99/11.89
Most of the grapes for this Riesling are from
the Evergreen Vineyard. Top layers of earth were
deposited by floods the most recent occurring 10,000
years
ago - carried down from the high elevations of
Montana, Idaho and Washington. All of the wines from
the Evergreen Vineyard possess a distinct minerality
due to the volcanic soil beds. It is ripe, fresh and
highly aromatic. The nose combines peaches and
apricots with flavors that are rich, lush and juicy.
The finish is off-dry and balanced. It goes with
seafood, chicken, turkey and pork and a wide swath
of cuisines from Cajun to Asian and Hispanic to
German. It is also unsurpassed as an aperitif. |
Serge Batard ’09
Muscadet Cotes de Grandieu Sur-Lie (Loire, France)
DRY
WHITE
Reg Price/This Month $13.99/11.89
In the mid-20th century Muscadet was a
little-known country wine but by the 1970s it had
become the accepted drink with the glorious seafood
of northern
France. Beside a plate of shrimps, oysters, or
mussels it becomes one of gastronomy’s most
convincing clichés. This gorgeous summer wine comes
from the Cotes de Grandieu; a small region
within the Muscadet Serve et Maine appellation. It
has a floral nose of white peach, grapefruit and
green apple leaning towards the mineral side. The
wine has quite the citric kick of acidity, but the
fruit is lush enough to balance it out. |

Vineyards ’07 Guenoc Victorian Claret (North Coast,
California)
DRY RED
Reg Price/This Month $15.99/13.59

Victorian actress who planted vines in Guenoc Valley
over a century ago. |
Domaine Moillard
’08 Hautes Cotes de Nuits Blanc (Burgundy, France)
DRY
WHITE
Reg Price/This Month $21.99/18.69
Records from the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges
confirm that the Moillard family owned vineyards
dating well back before the French Revolution. In
1870 Jeanne Moillard became heir to the family
estate and wine business. In 1873, Jeanne married
Monsieur Maurice Thomas who was also from a
Burgundian vineyard-owning family in Nuits-Saint-Georges.
Today, their direct descendants still own the
company, managing the entire operation from the
viticulture to international distribution. This
Chardonnay has a stylish nose of wet stones,
lemon, white fruits and spices. The palate has just
a touch of oak and a good concentration of fruit and
minerals. Pure and crisp with zesty acidity, this
will pair with sushi, veggie lasagna and lighter
seafoods. |

DRY RED
Reg Price/This Month $17.99/15.29
Cherry-picked from the finest vineyards in
Monterey, the Poppy Pinot Noir is an expression of
elegance and
finesse.
It’s bright red in color with intense aromas of
earth and raspberry. Red cherry, raspberry and
allspice dominate the front palate as mushroom and a
little toasted oak are present on a long, velvety
finish. Allow this wine to breath for a good hour
before serving alongside mushroom or truffle
risotto, roasted turkey or game dishes. |
Chateau Capion ’09 Cuvée 1C Blanc (Languedoc,
France)
DRY

century. All of Capion’s wines are made with natural
yeasts and the vineyards see no pesticides. This

Sauvignon Blanc - is an elegant and bright wine
with a powerful nose of floral and fruit flavors.

Il Cuore ’07 Rosso
Classico “The Heart” (Mendocino, California)
DRY RED
Reg Price/This Month $13.99/$11.89
Syrah is the principle grape variety for this
vintage, and contributes effusive ripe cherry
flavors and good

to cut through spicy cuisine. Zinfandel
offers bold fruit flavor and black pepper with dark
color, while Carignane from this region
provides jammy complexity and spicy character.
Sangiovese from old plantings adds succulent
plum nuances, pleasant spice and great color. The
fruity, spicy flavor will enhance a diverse range of
cuisine, including comfort foods such as braised
lamb shanks, roasted herbed chicken, classic Italian
dishes and especially Mediterranean style grilled
meats. |
